KIDS ON THE FARM

One aspect of restoration I do is colourising black and white photographs. This is complicated by the fact that usually colour reference doesn't exist for the image and some colours are guesses. Most colours are correct if the client can supply me colour reference.

This image taken in 1965 is correct as the original tractor still existed and i was able to use reference from pictures of the restored tractor to complete the final image.

As usual for an image of this era, the original negative did not exist and I had to restore a very poor image to a high standard which took ages.

The final black and white which took 15 hours to restore was then duplicated and another 10 hours work was required to restore the image to colour.

There were a few changes as the client noted aspects of the colour which were not correct and I had to alter the lights on the tractor as the original lights had been painted purple.

All in all a very satisfactory result which I enjoyed doing.
