Gone Fishing

A6

In the original mono image the main subject was meant to be the young boy but it was obvious that even after restoration there really wasn't much I could do with him. I decided to make the lake and the background the main subject of the image. I restored the lake, the landscape and adding a more punchy sky to give a more somber mood to the picture.

According to the original owner it had been an overcast day so I added a suitable sky.

The coat was that colour and it was the only colour I needed to know for this restoration of the print.

The original negative no longer existed and the print on the right was all that existed. It was stained and pawed from years of abuse and poor storage.

A lot of scratches and dirt were removed and the stones in particular had to be repaired at the bottom of the picture.
